Amazing Resource for Math/Numbers & Place Value

Hello All!

This week we will be tackling Numbers as well as Place Value in Math. When teaching this topic, visual aids are a must. I have found a great educational game titled Shark Numbers that looks at having a picture of blocks on the left hand side of the screen, with sharks, waters and numbers in bubbles on the right hand side. Children have to count the number of blocks, then click on the right answer. This is a perfect tool for children who strive off of visual cues. It makes learning about math more fun and interactive. I find it will get students engaged in the subject/topic.

Overall Curriculum Expectation:

The overall curriculum expectation is that Grade 2 students will be able to solve problems involving addition and subtraction of one and two digit whole numbers, using a variety of strategies and investigate multiplication and division.

Specific Curriculum Expectation:
Counting:

Students will be able to count forward by 1s,2s, 5s,10s and 25s and 200s, using number lines and hundreds charts starting from multiples 1,2,5,10.

Great Resource for Science/The WaterCycle

Hello All!

I have found a good resource for Grade 2 Science. This link is a game
that teaches children about the Water Cycle. This game is an educational
resource that children can use to help further their understanding of the water cycle.
It tests their knowledge as they play it, to see what they are learning and if they are
remembering key concepts, explorations and terms. I recommend all that each child take sometime tonight to play this game.
